We are offering an Assistant Quantity Surveyor position within a regional, luxury housebuilder. We welcome applications from Graduates, Assistants, Trainees, and intermediate Surveyors seeking the next step in their careers. The company specializes in high-specification housing and refurbishments, working on new builds, listed building conversions, and refurbishments. We are looking for someone interested in working for a smaller, friendly, and financially stable business that offers a good work-life balance, career progression, and skill development support. The hiring manager prefers a candidate with some onsite experience working for a developer or contractor, comfortable working on site, and engaging with clients and subcontractors as needed.
Joining this company offers the chance to develop an extensive portfolio, working on diverse housing schemes, including complex and high-luxury residential developments.
Responsibilities:
* Support senior commercial staff with contract documents, including bills of quantities with architects and clients;
* Assist in risk, value management, and cost control;
* Identify, analyze, and respond to commercial risks;
* Assist with valuing completed work and arranging payments;
* Maintain awareness of current building contracts;
* Understand health and safety regulations;
* Help prepare contracts, including material quantities;
* Visit sites, assess progress, and project future work;
* Analyze outcomes and prepare progress reports;
Skills:
* Strong numeracy and financial management skills, with the ability to learn sophisticated IT packages;
* Ability to write clear reports and communicate complex information simply;
* Negotiation, teamwork, and leadership skills;
* Knowledge of building technology, materials, processes, and legal matters;
* An industry-relevant ONC/HNC/BSc or equivalent, including part-time students;
* Experience on UK construction sites;
* Commercial and contractual awareness with a successful track record with reputable UK companies;
* Legal right to work in the UK;
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
