We are seeking an Assistant Research Manager for a 3-month contract to join our Application & Funding team at the University of Southampton, The first point of contact for NIHR research funding applicants.
The team is responsible for:
Scheduling and launching new funding opportunities
Managing and overseeing peer review of applications
Scrutinising applications and flagging issues to panels/boards
Supporting applicants and organising external advisory meetings
Managing panel membership for shortlisting and funding decisionsKey Responsibilities
Support the delivery and improvement of research management processes
Oversee and delegate administrative tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Provide advice and guidance to applicants and stakeholders
Organise meetings and coordinate logistics
Maintain high-quality data on relevant systems
Contribute to continuous process improvementPerson Specification
Essential:
Experience managing multiple priorities and working to tight deadlines
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
Confident in providing advice to stakeholders and applicants
A-levels/NVQ3 or equivalent experienceDesirable:
Experience in research administration or funding
