£38,000 - £40,000 dependant on experience

Our WorkMaster footwear manufacturing site in Crawley uses state-of-the-art production methods and relies upon collaborative team-work.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail oriented Quality Engineer to ensure our safety boots meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This role focuses on improving manufacturing processes, resolving quality issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the production line.
Scope:
The Quality Engineer supports all quality related activities across the manufacturing process from raw material inspection to final product release. This includes working with cross-functional teams, managing quality systems, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ASTM, CSA, and ISO. The role covers all activities at the Crawley site and when required at Redhill, while also working with our global suppliers and customer base.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* To maintain all aspects of the Quality Management System, raising/updating, SOP's, SIP's and Forms where required.
* Provide day-to-day quality engineering support for production.
* Identify and implement process improvements, cost savings, and waste reduction through better quality practices.
* Conduct internal non-conformance and customer complaint investigations independently, using the 8D methodology; write reports, identify root causes, and define corrective/preventive actions.
* Manage the Crawley site's Change Deviation Request (CDR) process, ensuring product-impacting changes are recorded.
* Plan, Manage and undertake internal and external audits ensuring all non-conformities raised are addressed in a timely manner.
* To collate KPI data and present it to the Group Quality Manager monthly, identifying any trends that require action.
* Make informed decisions on behalf of the Group Quality Manager when they are offsite.
* Raise Concessions or Production Permits as applicable.
* Manage supplier returns for non-conforming products; ensure root causes are identified, and preventive actions are in place.
* Provide cover for calibration of inspection and measuring equipment.
* Support production and inspection testing activities as needed.
* Write quality control plans and help undertake FMEA's when required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Diploma or equivalent qualification in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering.
* Minimum 1 year of experience as a Quality Engineer, preferably in PPE or engineering sectors.
* Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action tools (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys, FEMA)
* Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
* Experience in investigating non-conformances and customer complaints and writing corrective/preventive action reports.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook for analysing data and writing reports.
* Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
* Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, analytical approach.
* Proactive, confident, and solution-focused mindset.
* Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise work with minimal supervision.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* Flexible and adaptable, with a broad range of quality-related skills.
