We're pleased to be partnering with the Norwich Bioscience Institutes Partnership (NBIP), who are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking FM Support Services Manager to join their vibrant Facilities team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting cutting-edge research that addresses some of the most pressing global challenges — from sustainable agriculture to healthy ageing.
The organisation provides essential non-scientific services to amunity of over 1,000 researchers, students, and support staff across four internationally renowned institutes: the John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory, Earlham Institute, and Quadram Institute Bioscience. Located on the beautiful Norwich Research Park, the campus spans 230 hectares of green space and innovation.
The Facilities team is at the heart of this ecosystem, ensuring that our infrastructure and services enable world-class science to thrive.
Your new role
As FM Support Services Manager, you’ll lead the delivery and continuous improvement of a wide range of soft services — including security, cleaning, catering, waste management, insurance, and supplier contract management. Reporting to the Head of Facilities, you’ll be instrumental in shaping service delivery during a period of exciting transformation and infrastructure development.
This is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategic oversight with operational excellence. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the institutes, championing service innovation, sustainability, and smart building technologies.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Leading and developing soft FM services to meet evolving organisational needs
2. Managing supplier contracts and ensuring high performance and value for money
3. Driving service improvements and embedding a culture of excellence
4. Supporting major infrastructure projects and change initiatives
5. Building strong relationships with stakeholders across a diverse andplex environment
6. Ensuringpliance with health, safety, and industry standards
What you'll need to succeed
We’re looking for a confident and collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
You’ll bring:
7. IWFM or ILM Level 5 in Facilities Management (or equivalent experience)
8. A recognised Health & Safety qualification (, IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH Certificate)
9. Proven experience in managing and developing soft FM operational models
10. Strong leadership and team development skills
11. Excellentmunication and stakeholder engagement abilities
12. Knowledge of sustainability practices and smart building technologies
13. Proficiency in FM software (, Concept Evolution, Planon, Maximo)
14. Experience in contract negotiation, supplier management, and budget oversight
