 
        
        Trainee Credit Controller
We are recruiting for a Trainee Credit Controller to join our Finance team in Milton Keynes. You will be given full training and development.
This is a great entry role for someone who has existing customer service skills and wants that first step into a corporate environment.
The successful candidate will be confident in communicating effectively verbally or in writing, be tenacious and flexible with the drive to provide great service and deliver change in an exciting and challenging environment. You should be prepared to engage with and influence stakeholders and have a strong attention to detail.
Your key responsibilities will include:
 1. Maximise cash collections, to individually collect monthly cash targets
 2. To actively contribute in reducing aged debt over 30 days +
 3. Manage apportioned accounts to reduce the risk of bad debts
 4. Prepare Daily reports as per Credit Control procedures
 5. To correctly help identify unallocated cash receipts from the bank statements
 6. Keep ledgers tidy with a view to reducing the number of accounts, making sure housekeeping of write-offs / matching / unallocated cash are action regularly
 7. Raise ad-hoc invoices/credits as required.
 8. To identify and escalate potential bad debts at an early stage to the Credit Control Supervisor
 9. Ensure telephone and email collection targets are met
 10. Provide explanations for old unpaid items and unallocated cash balances to the Credit Control Supervisor
 11. Promote the department by maintaining relationships with customers, internal and external partners in a positive and professional manner at all times.
 12. Confirm bank details with solicitors when required
 13. Participate in regular ledger reviews with the Control Supervisor
The ideal candidate will have:
 14. Demonstrable customer service skills
 15. An interest in Finance
 16. Strong numerical and analytical skills with an attention to detail
 17. Strong communication skills, in particular the ability to communicate complex financial information in plain English
 18. Experience of Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel
 19. Ability to work to tight deadlines and work under own initiative and be a team player
 20. Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging communications
