The role
Salary: £31,000 - 66,000 per year Requirements: Experience working with issue management, quality systems, or engineering governance processes. Strong understanding of structured problem-solving methods such as 8D and root cause analysis. Ability to challenge engineers constructively and influence outcomes. Strong organisational and coordination skills. Experience handling data analysis, reporting, and KPI tracking. Good stakeholder management and communication skills. Background in automotive engineering or a similar regulated industry such as aerospace or defence is desirable. Familiarity with ticket-based issue management systems is desirable. Understanding of vehicle development or product lifecycle processes is desirable. Exposure to quality or continuous improvement frameworks is desirable. Methodical and process-driven with high attention to detail. Confident and assertive when challenging technical decisions. Strong communicator who can engage with engineering teams at all levels. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and leverage data. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, programme-driven environment. Responsibilities: Take ownership of the Issue Management System and ensure effective tracking, governance, and resolution of engineering issues. Oversee and administer the Issue Management System. Govern the lifecycle of engineering issues through a ticket-based system. Ensure all issues are documented, progressed, and closed in line with defined processes. Maintain data integrity and traceability across all issue records. Act as the central point of coordination between engineering teams. Drive timely updates from engineers and ensure tickets are actively progressed. Challenge and support engineers to ensure robust root cause analysis and corrective actions. Ensure the structured use of the 8D methodology across all issue resolution activities. Review and approve proposed corrective actions from engineers. Provide constructive challenge where solutions lack robustness or completeness. Lead lessons learned activities across vehicle programmes. Analyse historical issue data to identify recurring themes and risks. Ensure previous issues and resolutions are proactively fed into new vehicle designs. Support engineering teams by highlighting known risks from past design issues. Extract and analyse IMS data to produce KPIs, reports, and insights. Track trends, performance metrics, and issue resolution effectiveness. Present findings to stakeholders to support decision-making and process improvements. Act as the primary user and administrator of the IMS. Support users with system access, training, and day-to-day queries. Ensure consistent use of the system across the organisation.
