We are looking for a committed and experienced Deputy SENCO to join our inclusive secondary school in Croydon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs and contributing to the development of a dynamic and supportive SEN department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the SENCO in leading and managing the school’s SEN provision, ensuring the best outcomes for students with a range of additional needs.
* Support the development, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teaching staff.
* Provide guidance and professional development to staff on SEN best practices and differentiation.
* Monitor and track the progress of SEN students, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place.
* Work closely with students, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support for students' academic, social, and emotional development.
* Lead and manage a team of teaching assistants, ensuring they are well-supported and trained in their roles.
* Contribute to the school’s policies, strategies, and provision for students with SEN, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
Who We’re Looking For:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognized SEN qualification (or working towards it).
* Experience in a secondary school setting, preferably with a focus on SEN.
* A strong understanding of SEN legislation, practices, and strategies.
* Leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to support and motivate staff.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
* A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
