Tetra Tech is seeking a full-time Principal Structural Engineer with a strong design background to support our structural engineering team in Bristol. The team undertakes a wide variety of projects for the private and public sector, across a range of development sectors, and aims to provide integrated solutions incorporating state-of-the-art design.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the design and management of structural engineering works associated with a wide variety of major and challenging infrastructure projects for the private and public sector.
* Strengthen design and delivery capacity with experience across a broad range of projects; manage design through all stages from concept to delivery; lead small teams to meet client requirements.
* Collaborate with other design disciplines where helpful; act as the client’s main point of contact for assigned projects.
* Handle projects of varying size, including development of significant estate portfolios or smaller individual projects; typically mix of new-build and refurbishment.
* Lead technically on preparing designs, specifications, technical approval submissions, site supervision; be fully conversant with industry design standards.
* Opportunity to work with senior management on research projects and innovative initiatives.
About You
* Be a chartered civil or structural engineer (CEng and either MICE or MIStructE).
* Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, a collaborative approach, and a proven ability to deliver work on time.
* Confident in working directly with clients, other design professionals, and contractors.
* Demonstrate strong experience and knowledge of structural engineering projects with proven ability to produce drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
* Technical knowledge including use of industry-standard software (ideally Tekla/Robot) and basic ability with Revit.
* Experience in the commercial management of projects and change control.
* Commitment to health and safety practices within the workplace and in design.
* Display enthusiasm, flexibility, and versatility as a team player; ability to mentor and support team members.
* Desire to build upon existing experience and pursue ongoing professional development with Tetra Tech.
* Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have the ability to obtain UK security clearance.
