We are looking for a committed and detail-oriented web designer to ensure the content on the council’s websites is set up to provide the best possible user experience and connect residents to the services they need. As well as our main council website, you’ll also be helping make sure our staff can easily find information on our intranet, and supporting teachers and school staff to access vital resources on our school extranet.
As the expert in user experience, your main duties will be to work with content editors across the council to ensure our websites are accessible, content is plain English and pages are set up to enable people to access the information they need or complete a task as quickly as possible.
Reporting to the Web Manager, you will be part of the Corporate Communications Service, working with the team to coordinate activity to ensure that we are communicating clearly and consistently with residents, staff and partners across all platforms.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with content editors across the council to ensure websites are accessible and content is written in plain English.
* Set up pages to help residents access information or complete tasks quickly and effectively.
* Ensure the council’s websites deliver a high-quality user experience and connect residents to the services they need.
* Support staff on intranet usability and access to vital resources on the school extranet where applicable.
* Coordinate with the Web Manager and Corporate Communications Service to maintain clear, consistent communication with residents, staff and partners across platforms.
Requirements
* Experience as a web designer with a focus on user experience and accessibility.
* Ability to work with content editors and cross-functional teams.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate clearly.
Salary: £37,280-£41,771
