Cyber Risk Manager Lead – Met Office

We’re looking for an exceptional Cyber Risk Manager Lead to help us make a difference to our planet. This role is full time, 37 hours per week. Hybrid working arrangements are available.


Base pay range

£43,081 base pay with a total reward package up to £66,268 annually, including:

* £43,081 base pay
* Outstanding Civil Service pension, average employer contribution 28.97%
* Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) of £6,000 per annum (April 2024 – March 2026)
* Annual leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years, with an option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year

Your world of expertise

As Cyber Risk Manager Lead, you will play a central role in delivering and embedding cyber risk management capabilities across the Met Office. You will work across Governance Risk & Compliance Team domains, including Policies and Standards, Governance, Risk & Controls. The role involves developing and implementing frameworks to identify, assess and manage cyber risks effectively.


Your key duties

* Support governance, risk and controls capabilities, including frameworks and assessments.
* Support development, review, release and assurance of cyber security policies and standards.
* Design and implement assurance frameworks clarifying first and second line responsibilities.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders, translating technical concepts into business‑relevant language.
* Task‑manage and mentor associate‑level cyber risk analysts.

Essential Criteria, skills and experience

* Proven experience in cyber risk management, including risk assessment, control evaluation and mitigation planning.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
* Strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to drive continuous improvement.
* Understanding of cyber security policies, standards and regulatory frameworks.
* Demonstrated ability to lead assurance activities and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
