Lufton College Cambian Lufton College is a specialist residential education provider for 16 to 25 year olds with ASD, learning disabilities and complex behavioural and emotional needs. As Registered Manager, you will be responsible and accountable for selected homes as delegated by the Head of Care, and will be expected to ensure your homes meet both CQC regulations but also college expectations in relation to person centred support, positive behavioural support and ensuring the care team enable students to make progress by using strategies alongside the education and clinical team. In this Senior Management position you will be flexible towards your hours; you will not leave home in an unsafe situation regardless of working hours/shift. You will be a role model for all staff at all times; this means that you will present yourself professionally in all situations and without exception promote the vision, ethos and expectations set by the Head of Care and Principal. You will be responsible for the overall management of your allocated Home Managers within Lufton College, but ensure that you offer support and guidance to staff from across all areas of the College, promotion a ‘one team’ approach. You will ensure the highest quality of service is provided for our students through their person centred Positive Behaviour Support, Care and Treatment plans and that Home staff are encouraged and supported to achieve and exceed their full potential; addressing any staffing approaches that differ from those set by the Senior Leadership Team. To have a proactive visible presence across the college, challenging poor practice and celebrating achievements of students and staff. You will be responsible for working closely with House Managers and under the leadership of the Head of Care, and support the Deputy Head of care and others within the Senior Management Team to ensure that there is effective motivation of the residential staff team, maintaining and improving the quality of service delivery to meet and exceed the standards of CQC and exceed the expectations of our Stakeholders such as Commissioners and Parents/Families and to build upon the college’s existing reputation. Regulatory To develop and maintain pro-active working relationships with our regulators, CQC and Ofsted. To ensure compliance with Regulatory Standards and Guidelines; specifically in line with Health and Social care act 2008, Regulations 2014 and measure and assess self and service against CQC Quality statements and key lines of enquiry. To be trained as a Designated Safeguarding Officer and ensure that safeguarding concerns are recorded and raised with the local authority safeguarding team following Lufton College and Somerset Safeguarding children and adult’ processes, and notifying CQC as per the regulations. With adult safeguarding ensuring the Care Act 2014 is followed in relation to making safeguarding personal. To update and record accurate KPI’s (key performance indicators) for Cambian on a weekly basis, and to ensure all audits, quality checks and report completion including your service quality improvement plan is updated in accordance with set deadlines. Main Duties and Responsibilities To be accountable for, and establish support and deliver against the agreed staffing structure and personalised provision for each student, and utilise effective and appropriate delegation of responsibility within the care team. To ensure that positive, compassionate and effective support and direction utilising coaching strategies is provided directly and indirectly via members of the care management team to all members of the care team so that they may carry out their delegated duties effectively and following a person-centred approach to support and learning. Maintain a structured staff supervision system that is evaluative, developmental and promotes good practice. Also proactively engage in a meaningful supervision and appraisal system which supports college initiatives in relation to quality and commercial KPI’s and staff professional development pathways. Be accountable for planned and day care allocations and rota’s ensuring staff skills and knowledge are evenly distributed throughout the 24-hour period. Be responsible for joint oversight of the College’s on-call rota as per the Lufton College on call policy. Jointly manage and organise the on-call system as a Senior team member to ensure adequate levels of staffing are available at all times and that support is on offer out of hours. Ensure all policies, procedures and practices are implemented and understood by members of the care team. Also, develop and support the improvement of policies, procedures and practices which do not reflect or promote the ethos of the College. Ensure all young people are treated with dignity and respect, in an environment which reflects the importance of and their rights as individuals. Work with HR to manage staff issues related to; recruitment, absence, supervision, disciplinary or grievance or any other matters that need to be managed or resolved through this route. To line-manage the House Managers to ensure the efficient running of their homes, provide coaching and support to the Deputy Head of Care and to create an atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment for young people.
