We welcome applications from both experienced staff nurses and newly qualified nurses who are keen to start a career in Public Health Nurses. You will join the service at an exciting time as we progress our 0-19 pathways working more closely with Health Visiting services and our partners in education, social care and Early Help to take a family approach to promotion of health and wellbeing, prevention and early intervention.
Post holders will work within a team under the direction of a Specialist Practitioner School Nurse to deliver the Healthy Child Programme 5-19 in schools and other education settings. You will develop health promotion activities, work with partners in education, social care, Early Help and voluntary sector to deliver services to local communities. As a staff nurse you will hold a caseload of children requiring targeted and specialist HCP level support. You will carry out holistic health assessments and plan care for children and young people.

* Work as part of a team to provide advice, care and support to children and young people, their parents/carers in a locality of the borough
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for individual children and young people
* Contribute to the planning and delivery of health promotion programmes and interventions
* Work as part of multi-disciplinary and agency teams to support children, young people and families

Job responsibilities
* Undertake health assessments to assess, plan, implement and review care
* Support children and young people in need of safeguarding or in need
* Act as lead professional for children and young people needing Early Help
* Provide advice and guidance to parents/carers and professionals on a range of health and health related issues
* Support children and young people with continence and enuresis problems
* Be able to produce comprehensive reports and undertake analysis of risk
* Work with professionals from partnership agencies to provide localised support to children and young people
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse - Child Branch/RSCN/RN
* Demonstrable evidence of working with children and young people; placement in school nursing service within training (desirable)
* Demonstrable experience of post-qualification development in the area of public health nursing
Knowledge
* Understanding of the role of the School Nurse
* Knowledge of health and social care policy relating to children's services including safeguarding
* Knowledge of child development, health and wellbeing
* Aware of own abilities and able to carry out clinical role without continuous direct supervision and able to supervise junior members of staff
* Excellent knowledge of clinical governance
* Knowledge of project management and service development
Skills
* Ability to make timely, sound clinical judgments and assessments to deliver high quality client care
* Evidence of collaborative working within a multi-professional arena
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of people
* Ability to work as part of a team
