The Cancer Services Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) is looking for a MDT Support Coordinator to provide comprehensive administrative support to the cancer performance team and MDT team in the preparation of meetings, operating video-conference equipment and the collection and presentation of patient related data.
To undertake this role you will need to have a positive and pro-active approach to work, have the ability to meet deadlines involving high volumes of data within strict/tight time frames and a high level of data accuracy.
You will also need to be a good team member, use your initiative, be methodical and have excellent communication skills as you will be liaising with people of all disciplines across the Trust.
Awareness of patient confidentiality is a pre-requisite at all times.
Main duties of the job
To support the accurate and timely collection of cancer waiting time (CWT) data in line with the Cancer Waiting Times Guidance.
To provide comprehensive administrative support to multi-disciplinary teams; working closely with all members of the teams as required in the preparation of meetings; operating video-conference equipment and the collection and presentation of patient related data as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To be highly organised & well motivated with a logical approach to work to be undertaken in accordance with training & local protocols.
To prepare, organise & facilitate Multidisciplinary Team meetings by collating all relevant patient information to enable full discussion of patient management by the clinical teams.
To develop close working relationships & communication links with clinical teams.
To ensure clinical team members are made aware of CWT target dates at all times and to liaise with the teams and assist with the progress of all patient pathways.
To prepare the MDT meeting room as required, ensuring meetings are run efficiently and productively, using the appropriate resources available and processes in place, and ensuring all technical checks are made prior to the start of the meeting.
To accurately record the outcome of clinical decisions made by the Consultant, as recorded in the medical notes as necessary.
To ensure adequate quantities of supporting paperwork are copied and available to each Multidisciplinary Team, as needed.
To ensure that CWT and MDT pro formas are completed accurately and in full, and that the data is recorded on to Infoflex within the necessary timeframes.
To fully utilise all Hospital systems & third party reports to obtain/verify relevant patient information.
To ensure Infoflex is accurately updated in a timely fashion.
To develop working knowledge of the Infoflex System to ensure accurately and timely collection of CWT data.
To bring to the attention of the Cancer Performance Lead any potential delays in pathways which will result in CWT breaches, as soon as these are identified, in accordance with breach protocols.
To ensure all CWT processes/protocols are implemented & actioned within the necessary timeframes in order to avoid breaches of the cancer pathway national timescales.
To maintain local MDT Protocols as required to fully support service provision.
To provide cover MDT support as required.
To support in ensuring tertiary referrals are actioned by end of next working day.
To be able to work the video-conference equipment.
To undertake daily tracking, progress & collection of all relevant patient data onto Infoflex.
To prepare breach reports and timelines for all confirmed breaches, obtaining validation from consultants – ensuring reports are submitted within required timeframes.
To handle sensitive or contentious information appropriately, using tact, diplomacy and persuasive skills as required to achieve best outcome.
Develop a clear understanding and interpretation of CWT standards.
To ensure that telephone calls are dealt with promptly and appropriately in a professional and efficient manner.
To maintain and develop personal skills through participation in continuing education including attendance at Network Training Events.
To maintain and develop relationships within the department, the Trust, and with outside agencies.
To support training and development within the team where appropriate and necessary.
To undertake any other relevant duties as requested by the MDT Team Lead, Cancer Performance Lead and the General Manager (Cancer Services).
