Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a substantive whole time appointment for a newly established post with Bury Mental Health Services, covering a sector of the Bury area. This post has been created due to the current consultant moving to another job in the trust.
The Bury general adult psychiatry service provides care for people aged 16 to 64. The team includes consultants deployed in community, outpatient, early intervention, inpatient, home treatment and A&E liaison, as well as a consultant in Living Well.
In this arrangement, the appointed consultant will work with sector consultants (East, West and South) in community outpatients.
Main duties of the job

* Providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment to patients in community clinics, at homes or other clinical settings.
* Delivering teaching to medical and nursing staff.
* Participating in quality improvement, research activities, and service development.

* Supporting the on‑call rota and other clinical duties as required.

Person specification
* Medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) and higher qualification in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Full registration with the GMC and in good standing.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
* Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within three months.
* S12 approval under the Mental Health Act or ability to achieve within three months.
* Excellent knowledge of adult psychiatry and experience of a range of conditions and complex psychological problems.
* Higher psychiatric training or equivalent and CCT in General Adult Psychiatry or within six months.
* Experience with detention of patients under the MHA (1983) and writing reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals.
* Evidence of teaching, training, audit activity, CPD registration with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and service development.
* Ability to lead service development and show enthusiasm, initiative and innovation.
* Published audit and research work.
* Current or past educational supervision of a basic trainee or specialist registrar.
