Health and Safety Coordinator

The Health & Safety Coordinator will provide expertise, advice and support to the business and business teams to ensure continued compliance with all statutory Health, Safety and Environment duties. In order to maintain compliance the role holder will implement, guide and educate on best practice systems and procedures and promote the health, safety and well-being of all employees.
Work with the UK HSE team and the Huyton management team to support the development, implementation, and compliance/adherence to health, safety and environmental policies and procedures for the business.
Monitor, analyse and report on the effectiveness of health, safety and environmental policies, processes and procedures, providing recommendations for change/improvements as necessary and take a hands on lead approach to drive results.
Work with the senior management team at Huyton to drive compliance with legal and corporate health, safety and environment standards.
Coordinate the site HS&E risk assessment process and implement and educate use of the process
Ensure maintenance of ISO 14001 to the required conformance standards and maintain all aspects of the management system for health, safety and environmental
Provide support to the business in projects and/or activities that have an impact on employee health and safety and/or the environment
Coordinate the First Aider / Fire Warden provision and any promotional activities and initiatives
Coordinate organising of Occupational Health Nurse/Services to promote and maintain employee well-being, including organisation of the annual health surveilance programme and coordinate actions & learnings from it.
Work with the site service providers to ensure compliance and focus on the effective management of and the handling and disposal of waste and promote the potential for recycling
Create a safe and healthful work environment working with all levels in a positive and constructive manner to encourage interest in safety and to work with Leaders and Managers in maintaining standards whilst recognising the need to balance financial resources.
Use all operational and plant meetings to promote and implement Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and improvement
Desire to create a world class manufacturing facility
Experience in HSE with an emphasis on policy and procedure development, implementation and control
Certificate, CIEH, DipSM/HSE or NVQ5
Working knowledge of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
