About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Operative to join our Repairs and Maintenance team in Derry/Londonderry. This role will be mainly lone working within both occupied and void properties.
This is a hands-on role requiring a mix of practical ability, customer service, and teamwork. You’ll be responsible for a wide range of tasks that help maintain our properties to a high standard.
1. Install fixtures such as curtains, blinds and door handles, drawing on basic maintenance experience and a keen eye for detail
2. Completing property inspections and looking for inventory items including beds
3. Carry out painting and decorating tasks, which require strong organisational skills and a sense of pride in presentation
4. Replace light bulbs and check smoke alarms, showing a proactive approach and commitment to safety standards
5. Work collaboratively within the Repairs and Maintenance team including Multi Skilled Operatives, Electricians and other General Operatives, where strong teamwork and reliability are essential
6. Deliver excellent customer service across all tasks, maintaining a professional and customer-focused attitude
7. Communicate effectively with colleagues and residents, using clear verbal communication and good interpersonal skills
8. Make decisions and solve problems independently when needed, demonstrating confidence and initiative
9. Maintain high standards of safety, quality and cost control, with a methodical and dependable approach to work
Role Criteria:
10. Experience within a similar role
11. Previous experience as a handyperson
12. Good knowledge of DIY
13. Customer service experience
14. Personable
15. Works well under pressure
16. Good time keeping
17. Ability to provide own hand tools including spirit level, screw drivers and hammers
18. Full UK driving license
