An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and flexible Receptionist to join our busy 5 partner Practice for 25 hours a week.
Our practice requires highly organised and motivated individuals to provide comprehensive front of house and administrative services to support the Practice.
Applicants should have excellent customer service, organisational, and computer skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience of the EMIS Web computer system would be an advantage, although full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
The ability to work well within our team and on your own initiative is essential.
Main duties of the job
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* To ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and visitors to the practice.
* Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments.
* Use your judgement and communication skills to ensure that patients with urgent needs are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
* Provide care navigation to the most appropriate services for patients.
* Receive and make telephone calls, divert calls, and take messages, ensuring accuracy and prompt delivery.
* Enter patient information into the computer as required.
* Chaperone patients and visitors when necessary.

St Georges Medical Centre is a busy Practice with a patient population of 9,500.
Our team includes 5 GP partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 1 ANP, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants, and 1 Phlebotomist. We are a training Practice with GP trainees and medical students.
We run a dedicated community Ophthalmology clinic and host services such as diabetes, podiatry, orthotics, and minor surgery.

Job responsibilities
* Provide effective reception services to patients and visitors.
* Handle general enquiries, explain procedures, and manage appointments.
* Prioritize urgent cases using your judgement.
* Guide patients to appropriate services.
* Explain practice arrangements to new and temporary patients.
* Manage telephone communications and messages.
* Record home visits and refer to the Duty Doctor as needed.
* Inform patients of charges for private services, process payments, and issue receipts.
* Enter patient information into the system.
* Chaperone patients and visitors when necessary.
* Perform any additional duties as requested by management.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good general education
* GCE/GCSE Mathematics
* Intermediate IT skills, including Word and Excel
* Experience with EMIS clinical software

* Experience in a busy General Practice environment
* Familiarity with Windows-based software and networks
