Responsibilities
1. Performance and portfolio management: Work closely with the CUO, Head of Pricing, and Senior Underwriters to analyze and optimize the performance of Specialty Property and Specialty Casualty portfolios.
2. Data analysis and reporting: Utilize advanced analytics to drive improved underwriting performance insights, identify trends, and propose actions. Regularly report findings and recommendations to senior management.
3. Coordination: Coordinate monthly CIPs (Class Insight Pods) with multiple stakeholders for each line of business, drive discussions, inform strategy, and foster a culture of continuous portfolio improvement.
4. Business planning: Lead the business planning exercise to formulate loss ratios and reinsurance assumptions supporting the annual business plans.
5. Reinsurance support: Support reinsurance by leading analysis into alternative structures and adequacy of reinsurance placements, working closely with the Capital Modelling team. Coordinate with reinsurance technical support and brokers to provide data, analysis, and insights for reinsurance purchasing.
Qualifications
* Market knowledge: In-depth understanding of insurance and reinsurance principles, especially within Lloyd's and London markets.
* Market trends: Awareness of current market trends, emerging risks, and industry best practices within Lloyd's.
* Communication: Excellent skills to convey complex actuarial and financial concepts to non-technical stakeholders and establish credibility with senior underwriters across functions.
* Project management: Strong skills to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
* Analytical skills: Exceptional ability to interpret complex data and develop robust portfolio models.
* Data science: Experience applying data science techniques in insurance is beneficial.
* Problem-solving: Strong abilities to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies for portfolio optimization.
* Financial acumen: Clear understanding of insurance P&L and performance drivers.
