Accounts Assistant – Accountancy Practice

A respected and growing accountancy firm is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the team in delivering exceptional client service across a varied portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting client bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations and invoice processing
* Assisting with VAT returns and payroll processing, ensuring timely submissions to HMRC
* Helping to prepare self-assessment tax returns and general accounts production
* Managing day-to-day queries from clients with professionalism and accuracy
* Completing a range of administrative duties, including filing and database updates
* Identifying opportunities for referrals across the wider business network
* Communicating regularly with senior team members on client work status
What We’re Looking For:
* Minimum 1 year of experience in an accountancy practice environment
* AAT Level 2 or 3 qualification (or working towards it) is desirable
* Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software
* Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn
* Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working under pressure
