Job Summary
Deputy Radiopharmacy Production Manager – University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Nuclear Medicine Department, Derriford Road, Plymouth. Full-time, Permanent, Band 7.
Main Duties
* Manage day‑to‑day radiopharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with Medicines Act 1968, EU GMP and EU Directive 2001/83/EC.
* Provide technical and professional support for all aspects of radiopharmaceutical production.
* Teach and assess staff and students working in the unit.
* Maintain staff competence through regular validations.
* Troubleshoot technical issues in collaboration with the RPM and RQM.
* Lead radiopharmacy production in the RPM’s absence.
* Assist with equipment service, maintenance, and liaising with contractors.
* Support radiochemical purity testing and stock control/ordering.
* Help evaluate, purchase and install equipment.
* Collaborate on risk assessments, audits, validations and SOP development.
* Maintain knowledge of EU/UK legislation and compliance requirements.
* Assist with maintenance of SPECTra, Isostock and other IT systems.
Person Specification – Essential
* BSc in Clinical Technology, Radiography or equivalent.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
* Specialist course in Aseptic Preparation/Dispensing of Medicines (Leeds) or equivalent.
* Experience in nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmacy manufacturing and dispensing, and blood cell labelling.
* In‑depth knowledge of IRR17, IRMER, MARS(ARSAC), MHRA and related guidelines.
* Proven supervisory skills.
* Good interpersonal skills with patients, staff and other professions.
* Ability to prioritise workload and give clear instructions.
Person Specification – Desirable
* Previous management experience.
* HPC registration or RCT registration.
* MSc in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent level of knowledge/experience.
* Teaching and mentoring experience.
* Additional expertise in equipment evaluation and procurement.

* Salary: £47,810 – £54,710 per annum (Pro Rata)
