Bud Flanagan West is a haemato‑oncology ward dealing with patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment and stem cell transplantation. The unit comprises 16 inpatient beds and an ambulatory day unit. The successful applicant will be trained in both areas. The ambulatory day unit is a busy area that includes patients having stem cell transplant, receiving high‑dose chemotherapy and supportive treatment. We are looking for a band 6 nurse to join our friendly and dedicated team. You will need to be proactive, have excellent communication skills, be able to provide the highest quality care and demonstrate a desire to learn and understand the complex pathways of patients undergoing treatment. Haematology and transplant experience is an added asset for the role. You will enjoy working as part of a highly skilled and motivated team including nurses, doctors, AHPs and education teams. Responsibilities
* Coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑led care to patients.
* Exercise clinical judgment and decision making about patient needs in terms of long‑term goals or plans.
* Participate fully in the day‑to‑day organisation and running of clinical trials, including recruitment, education and monitoring of patients entering a trial and liaison as required with trial sponsors.
* Assume personal accountability for nursing care delivered to a patient in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct; there is an expectation for posts holders to maintain professional standards.
* Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
* Participate in trust initiatives around infection control and care quality indicators.
* Assist with local or trust initiatives to ensure continuous improvement of the quality of services and safeguarding of high standards of care.
* Be aware of all hospital policies and procedures and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that these are observed.
* Help foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale.
