Contested Probate Solicitor (3+ PQE)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Contested Probate Solicitor (3+ years PQE) to join our growing Private Client & Litigation team in Altrincham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contentious trusts and probate matters, excellent client-care skills, and the ability to manage a busy and complex caseload with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
* Handle a varied caseload of contentious probate and trust disputes, including:
* Challenges to the validity of wills
* Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
* Executor/beneficiary disputes
* Proprietary estoppel and undue influence claims
* Removal of executors/trustees
* Disputes regarding estate administration and trust management
* Provide clear, strategic advice to clients, often in sensitive and emotionally charged circumstances.
* Draft pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and correspondence.
* Manage cases through all stages of the litigation process, including mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
* Work collaboratively with the wider Private Client, Dispute Resolution and Tax teams.
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.
* Contribute to business development activities, including networking, seminars, and marketing initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required
* Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 3+ years PQE, ideally within contentious probate or commercial litigation
* Strong knowledge of the Inheritance Act, Trusts & Estates law, and relevant civil procedure rules.
* Demonstrable experience of running cases independently and confidently.
* Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
* Empathetic and professional approach to client care.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
* A proactive, collaborative mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
