We are primarily a cat sanctuary with many long term residents as well as providing temporary care of cats who are looking for new homes.
This is a very physically and emotionally demanding role but very rewarding
Key skills needed:
* Keen interest in animal care.
* Understanding of basic hygiene.
* Attention to detail and good observation.
* Car owner/driver.
* Strong disposition as some days/weeks can bring huge emotional rollercoasters.
About the role:
* Feeding the sanctuary residents and making sure they are ready for bed
* Giving medication and other associated care of the cats and other animals living here
* 8 hours a week at National Minimum Wage, spread over 4 x 2 hour shifts in our cattery, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm, Mon-Thurs plus every other weekend
* Additional holiday cover which may include longer shifts
* The role is very physical and includes lifting large plates of food, packs of tinned cat food and cats in their carriers, bending to put plates down, etc.
* You will be responsible and reliable for the feeding, medicating and most importantly the end of life care of cats that you will fall in love with
* Intensely rewarding while also intensely heartbreaking
* It's definitely not cuddling kittens and stroking cats, sorry
* This is a lone-working position (unless you include cats, then it is definitely NOT lone working )
