JOB SUMMARY
Austen Court Care Home is seeking compassionate and dedicated Activity Coordinators to join their team. The role involves providing a wide range of activities to engage and stimulate the physical, cognitive, and social wellbeing of residents, while promoting a philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights, and fulfilment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
* Plan, design and deliver activity programmes in consultation with service users, relatives and the care team to meet residents’ specific needs.
* Engage residents in creative, social and brain‑training activities such as arts & crafts, noodle hockey, balloon pass, parachute, word games, prize bingo, social skill development and community links.
* Mentally and physically stimulate residents and encourage participation in activities.
* Adapt to different environments and challenging situations, including behaviours that challenge due to dementia.
* Maintain links with the local community and build good working relationships.
* Assist with fundraising activities and events to finance entertainment and outings.
* Support residents’ religious practices by arranging visits and outings as appropriate.
* Demonstrate IT literacy, physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods.
* Work well in a team and independently.

REQUIREMENTS
* Current DBS on the online update service (advantageous).
* Understanding of dementia and challenging behaviours.
* Bubbly personality and good sense of humour.
* Previous experience as an Activities Coordinator (1 year preferred).
* Experience in a care home setting (1 year preferred).
