Mechanical Engineer Port Glasgow | Up to £55,000 Bonus 33 Days Holiday | Pension Match up to 6% 2% MRD Recruitment is excited to be working with a leading global manufacturing business to recruit a Mechanical Engineer. This is a permanent, site-based role located in Port Glasgow, reporting directly to the Site Engineering Lead. You'll play a key role in maintaining and improving critical mechanical infrastructure and services across a complex manufacturing facility. Key Responsibilities Support the day-to-day operation and reliability of a range of mechanical building services, including ventilation, air conditioning, steam, compressed air, and pumped water systems Conduct plant condition assessments and propose technical solutions for improvements or system upgrades Lead and support installation, upgrade, and commissioning projects Interpret and maintain engineering drawings, technical documentation, and specifications Assist with the upkeep of site schematics and layout drawings (AutoCAD experience desirable) Ensure all mechanical systems comply with HSE regulations, relevant legislation, and best practices Work closely with internal teams and external contractors to deliver reliable engineering support Identify and support opportunities for energy efficiency and process optimisation Take ownership of project identification and delivery, from writing scopes of work through to reviewing tenders and managing contractor performance Oversee site works control, including issuing/reviewing RAMS and Permits to Work (PtW) Direct and advise both direct employees and contract labour as required About You (Essential Skills & Experience) Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering Ideally, you've moved away from the tools/shop floor and are comfortable with the day-to-day requirements of an engineer - managing projects, controlling site works, overseeing contractors, and reviewing specifications Hands-on experience with systems such as HVAC, ventilation/extract, compressed air, and steam Confident in reading technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Strong project management and time management abilities Proficient with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD knowledge is highly desirable Desirable (But Not Essential) Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment Understanding of relevant legislation, e.g. lifting equipment, pressure systems, L8 Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) Knowledge of energy monitoring techniques and sustainable engineering practices Experience writing scopes of work, reviewing contractor bids, and managing suppliers Why Apply?
