Location: Hybrid – minimum 2 days in the office initially (one day must be Wednesday)
There is no expectation for site visits unless specific concerns arise relating to the role. Candidates will require business insurance due to the nature of the position.
This is a management-level role, focused on overseeing caseloads and ensuring work is progressed efficiently through the system. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clear direction on cases, managing complex planning matters, and supporting the wider team.
Key experience required:
* Strong background in planning within complex environments
* Confident dealing with Green Belt / Grey Belt and tilted balance scenarios
* Experience with National Landscapes and major developments
* Knowledge of SANGs, SACs, and DCOs
* Ability to manage and advise on applications relating to greenfield sites, often within Green Belt and/or National Landscapes
Key responsibilities:
* Provide direction on cases and ensure progression through the system
* Review and sign off complex reports
* Act as lead officer at committee
* Escalate issues where required
* Demonstrate strong political awareness and confidence in decision-making
