About The Role
As a Software Engineer Senior, you’ll be working with global clients to ….
* Complete all stages of the development lifecycle
* Develop and execute application software using COBOL, Db2 and IMS to meet our client’s requirements
* Drive continuous improvement by sharing your expertise, and assisting less experienced team members
* Provide essential support to internal users, ensuring system stability through proactive maintenance, and participating in an out-of-hours cover rotation
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects that support our payment systems
About The Team
* Deliver bespoke tactical solutions for our International clients
* Report and update data at scale
* Are experts at recovering and correcting data
* Plan projects in detail and deliver to that plan
What You Will Be Doing
* You will be writing code to fulfil client requirements
* You will be estimating and planning small – medium sized projects
* You will be responsible for delivering the projects by the agreed date(s)
* You will be conducting Unit Testing of your code
* You will be participating in code reviews
* You will be running jobs to create reports and update client data
* You will need to provide out-of-hours (including weekend) cover on a rota basis
What You Will Need
* Strong technical foundations in COBOL and JCL for z/OS, with a proven track record of delivering clean, reliable code
* Experience with IMS and/or Db2
* Experience of Mainframe Tools and Utilities, such as TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, Sort
* A willingness to learn new technology
* Adaptability and organisation, staying calm and focused during busy periods, or when handling out-of-hours support
* Good communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with both technical peers and internal stakeholders
