Gurdwara Guru Nanak Parkash Coventry has a vacancy for two assistant Gianis to engage with the Sikh community in Coventry and surrounding areas, assisting the Head Giani in religious services and general works around the Gurdwara.
Duties will include assisting the Head Giani in Sikh religious service, performing katha, assisting in weekly diwan, Nitnem readings and Ardass, reading and recitation of Sukhmani Sahib, Akand Paath.
Applicants must be Amrit Dhari and at all times live according to the Sikh principles and code of conduct. They must be fluent in speaking, reading and writing Panjabi. Ability perform Kirtan, to play and teach traditional Sikh musical instruments is preferred.
The applicant must be proficient in either the Harmonium and or Tabla as a minimum.
They must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a busy gurdwara environment and be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in all aspects of gurdwara activity and a high standard of respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Applicants will need to demonstrate their competence in Kirtan or Tabla. This may be provided by submitting video (preferred) or audio recordings.
A salary is kept in line with the National minimum wage. Currently, £12.21 per hour will be paid monthly in arrears by bank transfer. Accommodation and meals will be provided.
