Job Description
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
* Implement and support Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
* Use Makaton confidently to support communication and language development.
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning materials and strategies.
* Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and other complex needs.
* Assist with behaviour management using positive and consistent approaches.
* Support pupils' personal, social and emotional development.
* Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
* Extensive experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
* Recognised Makaton training (Level 1 or above preferred).
* Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs (e.g., ASD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH).
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working in a specialist or resource provision setting.
* Training in Team Teach or other positive behaviour support strategies.
* Knowledge of sensory processing needs and strategies.
