Job overview
This role supports the Patient Flow Management and Clinical Matron in delivering Trust-wide objectives by leading modernisation initiatives and driving continuous improvement in patient flow processes. It involves overseeing daily operations of key teams including the Bed and Transport Bureau, Discharge Suite, Phlebotomy, and Admin, while ensuring effective use of Patient Flow IT systems. The postholder will work collaboratively with the Site Resource Manager to coordinate timely patient repatriation and escalate barriers to flow as needed.
Main duties of the job
1. Maintain effective communication, with all members of the MDT to promote and support patient flow, keeping staff informed of team updates and organisational KPIs.
2. Monitor and assess daily performance, in relation to patient flow and bed management taking action to resolve issues and escalating to the Site Resource Manager when necessary.
3. Collaborate with Site Resource Manager, Clinical Matrons, and managers of the day to address delays in performance relating to patient flow.
4. Ensure adherence to Trust policies and procedures across all service areas.
5. Implement service improvements by analysing themes and communicating options for sustainable changes in practice.
6. Oversee budgetary use, Support operational team leader with ordering and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
7. Support service modernisation, including redesigning processes and introducing new technologies to improve efficiency.
8. Attend relevant meetings and ensure timely actions from patient flow perspective.
9. Support and manage staffing responsibilities, including appraisals, sickness absence, personal development, and mandatory training compliance.

10. Computer Literate and excellent knowledge of Microsoft office applications
11. Be prepared to work independently and use own initiative to organise and prioritise own workload.

13. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, patients and suppliers at all levels or seniority, including presentations to groups

Qualifications
Essential criteria
17. GCSE in Maths and English (A-C/4-9) or Functional Skills (level 2)
18. Knowledge of secretarial and administrative procedures and systems, the majority of which are non-routine, acquired through training and experience to Vocational Level 3 or equivalent; plus knowledge of specialist functional/medical/legal terms, organisational policies and procedures and knowledge and experience to deal with non-routine issues such as problem solving for an area of work or developing alternative or additional procedures.
