We are excited to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, clinically skilled nurse to lead and develop our growing ECT and rTMS neuromodulation service at Northwick Park Hospital.
This is a pivotal leadership role at a time of active development, service innovation and investment in new neuromodulation pathways, including the introduction of rTMS technology and expansion of treatment options across the Trust. You will play a central role in shaping safe, modern, evidence‑based neuromodulation care.
The postholder will lead day‑to‑day delivery of ECT and rTMS treatment clinics, ensure high‑quality and person‑centred care, maintain national standards, and provide clinical leadership across a multidisciplinary team – including Consultant Psychiatrists, Anaesthetists, ODPs, Nursing teams, and Psychology colleagues.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Leadership & Service Delivery
Lead and coordinate daily ECT clinics and support the rollout, coordination and safe operation of the Trust's new rTMS service.
Ensure all assessment, planning, treatment and recovery phases meet national standards and Trust guidelines.
Provide expert advice, clinical supervision and mentorship to nursing staff and students.
Quality, Safety & Governance
Ensure compliance with clinical governance, safety standards, equipment protocols, and maintenance schedules across ECT and rTMS services.
Support development of SOPs, consent processes, patient information resources, and treatment protocols in partnership with clinical leads. (Reflecting ongoing work outlined in neuromodulation development meetings.) [
Service Development
Contribute to the strategic development of an integrated neuromodulation pathway, collaborating with medical leads, psychology, and organisational partners.
Support data collection, outcomes monitoring, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
Participate in shaping referral processes and supporting initial pilot phases for rTMS as the service grows.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Work closely with colleagues across acute, community and specialist teams to streamline referral pathways, enhance continuity of care, and ensure safe patient experience.
Represent the service at Trust and divisional meetings as required.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Run and oversee daily ECT clinics across CNWL, acting as the main point of contact for referrals and service queries.
Support the setup, rollout and ongoing development of the new rTMS neuromodulation service, helping establish a safe and effective clinical pathway.
Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team including Consultant Psychiatrists, Anaesthetists, ODPs, Nurse Practitioners and Recovery Nurses.
Ensure that assessment, planning, treatment and recovery for ECT and rTMS adhere to national standards and guidelines.
Maintain a safe clinical environment and compliance with health and safety requirements across all areas of the department.
Provide senior clinical leadership within the neuromodulation service, ensuring that nursing practice is evidence‑based and patient‑centred.
Offer supervision, mentorship and development for nursing staff involved in ECT/rTMS delivery.
Support training needs and ensure staff competency in line with service requirements (reflected across neuromodulation planning discussions).
Contribute to drafting and refining SOPs, consent processes, checklists, treatment protocols and patient information materials for ECT and rTMS services.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support audit, QI activity and outcome monitoring.

Experience
Essential criteria
Extensive post-registration experience with experience in a Band 6 position
Experience working in ECT services.
Experience of leadership or a management role working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience in the management of staff which might include recruitment, line management, supervision and work planning.
Experience of practice development in relation to mental health nursing.
Experience of working across team boundaries.
Experience of working with older adults.
Desirable criteria
Previous experience of budget management.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current registration
Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience
ENB 998 or equivalent
Evidence of an active interest in further professional development
Qualified Nurse administered ECT or desire to complete training
Desirable criteria
Other courses relevant to ECT
Certificate or Diploma in Management Studies or able to provide evidence of equivalent management experience
RGN
Educated to Masters level in Health or a Management related subject.
Non Medical Prescriber
Other relevant post registration experience.
Audit and Research
ENB 870 (Understanding Research).
ENB 934 Care and management of persons with HIV/AIDS.
Skills
Essential criteria
Knowledge and experience of ECT and Adult Mental Health Services.
Highly developed specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience.
Highly developed skills in influencing and being able to work skilfully within a staff group.
Ability to communicate/influence and be able to work skilfully at a high level with professionals, users and carers of the services as well as external agencies.
Ability to use patient information systems and computer software packages such as MS Word and Excel.
