As part of the Albex Group, Kent Foods Ltd is a successful and major supplier of ingredients to the food manufacturing industry as well as a Food producer. We currently produce a range of dairy blends and cake mixes for pancakes, muffins and sponges.
We are looking for a Quality Controller who will be able to assist site with maintaining quality systems on site at our Blending facility based in Hunslet, Leeds. You will manage all QC Functions onsite and have a role within the NPD process. You will be working closely with site management and production staff.
This will include:
* Assist in maintaining the onsite QMS in line with BRC standards
* Perform onsite bake ups to assess quality attributes, including but not limited to visual inspections, sensory evaluations, and measurements of key attributes.
* Identify and report product defects, non-conformities, or safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions as needed
* Ensure that cleanliness and sanitation standards are maintained in all areas to prevent contamination and ensure food safety
* Conduct regular audits including: Glass, GMP and fabrication to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards
* Provide training and guidance to operational staff on quality control procedures, best practices, and regulatory requirements
* Assist with the development and up keep of the sites HACCP processes, site standards, monitoring, reviewing and validating implementation.
* Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and quality of incoming raw materials and ingredients to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
* Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures to continuously improve product quality and safety.
* Handling product samples, checking results, shelf-life testing, aid in investigating any out of spec results
* Carry out environmental swabs and water testing
* Working with Pest control to ensure that all recommendations are signed off in a timely manner
* Ensuring equipment is calibrated per schedule
* Assist in NPD process including ensuring that all technical information is up to date including ensuring new suppliers/raw materials are approved and creating finished product specifications
* Reviewing and maintaining production records
Skills
· The applicant should have experience in food industry and have working knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards such as BRC.
* Know of HACCP is required
* Proficient IT skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc…
* Time management and an ability to plan and organise own workload
* Strong interpersonal skills with a warm welcoming manner
* Self-motivated with an ability to work under pressure and use initiative

Pay: £24,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
