Scope - We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support the modernisation of a secure legacy system. This is a critical role blending traditional embedded ADA practices with agile elements, focused on developing and sustaining high-integrity, mission-critical software for defence and aerospace systems.
Role - The Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for embedded ADA development, real-time software engineering, and hardware integration for a secure, high-reliability system modernisation project. This role requires on-site presence at Luton (or Akkodis Stevenage office as needed) and close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams in a structured environment.
Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain, and upgrade embedded ADA software for mission-critical systems.
* Perform real-time software engineering and target-based testing.
* Ensure compliance with DO-178 standards for aviation or defence applications.
* Integrate software with hardware at a low level, ensuring robust system functionality.
* Contribute to high-reliability, process-driven development environments using a blend of traditional and agile methodologies.
* Participate in reviews, system validation, and integration activities.
Required Experience
* Extensive experience in embedded ADA development.
* Background in real-time, safety-critical, or mission-critical software engineering.
* Experience with DO-178 compliance and working on defence or aerospace projects.
* Experience with low-level software-hardware integration and target-based testing.
Required Skills
* Strong proficiency in embedded ADA programming.
* Good understanding of system-level software and hardware interfaces.
* Comfortable working under structured software development processes.
* Knowledge of agile methodologies and process-driven environments.
* Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a mission-critical environment.
Required Education - Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
Clearance Requirements
* Active SC (Security Clearance) or eligible to obtain SC clearance.
* BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance will be required to start.
