We’re looking for a Payroll Team Leader to join our Payroll team at DS Smith’s Business Service Centre in Caerphilly. This is a key role that focuses on everyday duties around payroll and compliance, and also includes a team leadership element so that you can continue to develop your management skills.
You’ll be responsible for processing monthly payroll of employees, ensuring tax commitments are accurate, and overseeing the preparation and distribution of payslips to employees throughout the UK. You’ll ensure relevant paperwork is processed in a timely manner, supervise payroll account reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies so that we can remain confident that we’re operating at a high standard.
As a Team Leader, we’ll also be asking you to be a primary point of contact for the business and a source of information so that queries can be resolved quickly and stakeholders can become more knowledgeable. This will also include mentoring and developing a team of 4, representing the Payroll function in various projects, and driving the development and improvement of our processes so that we can continue to provide a world-class service.
About you
* Significant experience working in a Payroll team, ideally in a larger business
* Strong Excel knowledge (pivot tables and vlookups)
* Good knowledge of payroll legislation
* Ability to work well with your team and communicate effectively with other stakeholders
* Great attention to detail and an ability to solve problems quickly and accurately
* Previous team leadership experience is desirable
* Workday knowledge would be advantageous
* A payroll-related qualification, such as CIPP, would also be advantageous
* Salary up to £37,000, dependent on experience
