Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our team at our Redruth Depot in Cornwall. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles and Vans, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as hands-on experience with various tools and equipment. The position is full-time and paid, providing a stable career path within our organisation.
Full Manufactures training available including additional training, licences etc. available.
Responsibilities
* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs to ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Diagnose faults using schematics, electrical diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
* Repair and replace mechanical components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems.
* Perform fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly work as required for repairs or modifications.
* Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs efficiently.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
* Assist with the repair of auxiliary equipment including excavators and forklifts.
* Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations.
* Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status and recommendations.
* Participate in ongoing training programmes to stay current with technological advancements in heavy vehicle maintenance.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in heavy vehicle maintenance or a similar role.
* Strong mechanical knowledge coupled with electrical experience related to HGVs.
* Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, schematics interpretation, and assembly processes.
* Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
* Experience working with specialised machinery such as excavators or forklifts is desirable.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Good customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
* Relevant qualifications or certifications in vehicle repair or engineering are advantageous but not essential.
