What will you be doing?
You’ll be taking on responsibility for the strategic management of a multi-million pound spend, covering either raw materials or packaging (we currently have multiple roles available). You’ll create and implement category strategies that deliver cost savings without compromising on service or quality, working with suppliers both here in the UK and overseas. Core spend areas will cover things like plastics resins, metals, components for the raw materials and various type of plastic and complex printed cardboard packaging in the packaging role. You’ll build great cross functional working relationships with your stakeholders to obtain buy in and recognition of the added value that procurement provide when operating in a category/commodity aligned approach. There will be a commitment to developing strong supplier relationships, which will mean some travel is required, mostly UK but potentially overseas as well, including to the Far East – this is expected to be no more than once every 3-4 months. You’ll have the autonomy to develop your own ideas and make your own choices, but will still be supported by a cracking Procurement Director who will offer guidance and support when you need it.

What do you need to bring to the party?
To be successful in this role it’s expected that you’ll be able to demonstrate the majority of the following skills & experience:
5. Proven experience in a procurement role with strategic responsibility for raw materials/components/packaging in a manufacturing/engineering environment – if you happen to have sourced and procured plastic resins, metals and cardboard then this is certainly beneficial but not necessarily essential
6. Strong track record in savings delivery and performance optimisation
7. Experience of running full end to end sourcing processes, including RFT/RFQ’s and contract negotiation
8. Able to build rapport and develop excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers alike
9. Good influencing skills
10. Confident communicator, including presenting
11. Willing and able to travel nationally or internationally when needed
12. Happy to be based on site 5 days a week
