Overview
This role supports a happy and sociable 6‑year‑old girl with autism and ADHD, helping her access community activities that she enjoys, such as parks, farms and sensory/movement‑based play. The carer will assist with transitions between activities, offer calm support when environments become overwhelming, and provide gentle prompting and supervision for toilet use as needed.
Working Conditions
Hours: 2 hours per week initially, Saturday afternoons (typically 1pm‑3pm). Future opportunities may allow increased hours depending on needs and funding arrangements.
Location: Watford (WD24).
DBS/Check, Right to Work and references will be required.
Training provided: Safeguarding Adults, Introduction to First Aid, Health and Safety.
Responsibilities
* Support the child to safely access and enjoy community activities.
* Engage in play and age‑appropriate outings.
* Support transitions between activities.
* Provide reassurance if the child becomes overwhelmed.
* Prompt and supervise toilet use when required.
* Ensure the child’s safety and wellbeing at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
* A calm, engaging and dependable female personal assistant is preferred.
* Understanding of children with additional needs.
* Confident in supporting children in community settings.
* Able to provide reassurance and gentle guidance.
* Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs would be beneficial.
* Backgrounds in childcare, SEN support, education or youth work particularly welcomed.
* Ideally the carer can drive and has access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance to support community outings, though this is not essential if activities can be accessed locally.
