Role Summary
You will assist in the management, coordination and reporting of the Formation and Ageing for Sustainable Battery Technologies (FAST) project led by Principal Investigator Prof. Emma Kendrick.
The Project Officer will work proactively with the ReLiB Project Lead, Faraday Institution colleagues, external partners (Warwick, Oxford, Cambridge & Nottingham), academic teams at Birmingham and other professional services staff to ensure timely management reports, grant claims and the management of project risks.
Main Duties
* Coordinate FAST project activities, data, reporting, events, enquiries and meetings underpinning the successful delivery of a high‑profile research project.
* Prepare materials for progress reports (financial forecasts, funding claims, status updates) and present to Project Boards and stakeholders.
* Provide executive coordination support to Project Boards, work streams and working groups; set agendas, collate and distribute minutes, and ensure follow‑up action.
* Assess and elevate issues and risks, including monitoring risk registers.
* Support stakeholder management with project partners, funders and Project Boards.
* Manage project resources efficiently and maintain project documentation.
* Prepare accurate quarterly funding claims and assist with budget proposals for the funding agency.
* Maintain a current project website with up‑to‑date information.
* Coordinate the training programme for PDRAs; manage claims for PhD studentships and summer school internships.

* Any other duties commensurate with grade 6.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
* Degree level or equivalent; significant practical experience in a similar role otherwise.
* Experience using project management tools.
* Strong literacy and numeracy; clear writing and data analysis skills.
* Highly proficient IT skills – MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
* Understanding of policy, processes and procedures; ability to recommend and implement improvements.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to produce reports and identify issues decisively.
* Excellent interpersonal skills; inspire confidence, provide customer service.
* Professionalism, tact, diplomacy, discretion with sensitive information.
* Initiative, personal judgment, resourcefulness, flexibility and a self‑motivating approach.
* Ability to work effectively in a large, complex organisation.
