Assistant Clinical Psychologist - Band 4

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of mental health and related services across Norfolk and Suffolk, including child and adult mental health, learning disability, wellbeing, older people's, and eating disorder services.

We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and welcome applications from all talented individuals with the relevant qualifications, skills, knowledge, and experience.

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering team focused on embedding sleep help within youth mental health services across Norfolk and Waveney. The aim is to ensure young people can access effective sleep help early.

We offer training and supervision in an adapted form of CBT for insomnia (The Better Sleep Programme) to mental health practitioners across the wider mental health system. We also run online workshops to raise awareness of sleep's role in youth mental health, working with specialist services to adapt sleep interventions. We have strong links with UEA sleep researchers and the DClinPsy course, actively supporting research in sleep and youth mental health.

Main duties

The post-holder will support psychologists and psychotherapists in delivering training, workshops, and supervision groups (mostly online). They will provide peer support to trained practitioners and liaise with service user groups to promote involvement in the programme.

Support will also be provided to adaptation projects for specific clinical populations, such as young people in crisis or with neurodevelopmental or learning difficulties, including literature reviews, resource development, and evaluation support.

The role includes supporting the overall evaluation of the programme via database management and involvement in research studies.

Candidate profile

Ideal candidates will have experience working in mental health services, an interest in sleep (training provided), proficiency with spreadsheets and online platforms, and a compassionate, respectful, and inclusive approach. An interest in clinical research is also desirable.

Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. The role is mostly remote, with some in-person meetings and events.

Working for our organization

We offer training and supervision in sleep and youth mental health, with strong links to UEA and a focus on research and service development. We are a small, friendly team that values flexibility, regular meetings, and professional growth.

Additional information

We value evidence-based practice and outcome data collection. The role involves liaising with multiple teams and supporting research and doctoral projects. Regular clinical supervision will be provided.
