We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the West Lothian Educational Psychology Team to work with us to support the research and development work of the Service. You will be joining a highly regarded and enthusiastic service, committed to ensuring continuous improvement in all aspects of our service delivery to children and young people.
You will be required to complete literature searches, design and implement research projects, analyse and interpret data, consult with other professionals and make decisions about the best design and format for data collection. You will be required to determine the most appropriate method of reporting the research findings to interested groups and individuals. You will also have opportunities to be involved in ongoing research projects in line with service and Local Authority priorities. Current areas of interest include early years transition pathways, learner voice, care‑experienced children and young people, trauma and nurture. We also provide support and training to schools to develop their own skills in practitioner enquiry.
Honours Degree in Psychology is required.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
