Bridge Recruitment is helping one of our established clients recruit for an experienced Electrical Quality Engineer to join their ever-expanding team.
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £40,000 - £42,000 per year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm
Responsibilities of the Electrical Quality Engineer
1. Conduct in-depth inspections of installed electrical systems: LV/MV switchgear, tap of units, distribution panels, busbars, and control units.
2. Verify correct installation methods per British Standards, IEC Standards, and other relevant standards, construction drawings, and specifications.
3. Sign-off installed systems post-verification, ensuring compliance with technical standards and customer specifications.
4. Act as the on-site technical liaison for contractors, installers, and customers.
5. Lead inspection and testing of electrical components and assemblies during in-house production.
6. Audit supplier installation practices and electrical build quality.
7. Ensure compliance documentation (DoCs, certifications, risk assessments) are accurate and audit-ready.
8. Work with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Project Manager, and Commercial teams to align technical expectations and field realities.
9. Maintain professional, tactful communication in high-pressure scenarios, using patience, and conflict resolution techniques to manage challenging customers or disputes effectively.
10. Provide on-site rapid response for urgent electrical failures or system malfunctions, including immediate diagnostics, customer reassurance, and follow-up corrective actions.
Requirements of the Electrical Quality Engineer
1. Degree / HND / HNC in Electrical Engineering
2. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
3. City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent Inspection & Testing certification
4. 5+ years in field-based electrical inspection, commissioning, or technical support
5. Proficient with electrical drawings, wiring schematics, and system layouts
6. Hands-on use of electrical test tools: insulation testers, thermal cameras, loop impedance testers, etc.
7. Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
8. Experience managing commercial relationships with customers, subcontractors, and distributors.
9. Willingness to travel and work independently on-site.
