This company is an agile SME multi-disciplinary consultancy that is based in Yorkshire. The practice has a proven track record in successfully managing land promotion, speculative applications, appeals, and Public Inquiries, across a broad range of marketplaces.
The Requirement
There exists the strategic requirement to recruit a Managing Director for the business. The newly appointed MD will lead the business through the next phase of success and continued profitable growth. The ideal candidate will commit their future long term to the company. The core purpose of the role is to take overall responsibility for the company's operations, strategic growth, governance, processes, performances and to drive profitable growth.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide overall leadership, direction and motivation to all staff
* Develop and implement a clear, cohesive strategy for growth, expansion, and overall business success, aligned with long-term goals and board objectives.
* Drive the business forward strategically to help achieve growth targets
* Analyse the systems, governance, processes and procedures in place at and change and enhance where necessary, to make the business run more efficiently and effectively
* Take full P&L ownership, driving commercial performance, cost control, margin improvement, forecasts and managing budgets
* Continue to build and maintain a culture of accountability, high performance, and shared values
* Represent the company professionally to customers, partners, and authorities, maintaining positive and trust-based relationships
Experience & Attributes
Suitable candidates are likely to display the following types of experiences and traits:
* Either an experienced SME size business MD with a track record of growing companies OR a commercially focused Director perhaps with a successful consultancy practice background
* It will be good if candidates have had experienced of leading consultancy businesses but this is not a pre-requisite
* Commercially astute with strong experience of enhancing company operations, governance, processes and procedures
* Entrepreneurial flair and drive combined with a structured and analytical approach
* Committed to the company’s success, values and vision, as well as their own success
* Collaborative but able to challenge, improve and develop existing practices with an enthusiasm for solving complex commercial problems
* Proven strategic skills to assess priorities, developing and implementing effective long-term plans
* Numerate, with strong financial and commercial awareness
* \"Hands on\" with evidence of strong leadership and personal authority, as well as communication and people management skills
* A team player and developer, providing constructive interpersonal relationships within the business
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting, negotiation, and representation.
* A resourceful and flexible approach with a high degree of integrity
