Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we’re addressing our security risks and improving our security culture. You will be a role model for security, promoting a positive culture and cultivating good behaviours. You'll contribute to protecting the organisation from security threats that could affect our people, data, information, or physical assets.
In this role you will:
1. Help the Corporate Security Manager to oversee and mitigate security risks
2. Provide leadership and direction on how we assess and manage security risks, including our retained security responsibilities
3. Work with risk owners across the organisation to ensure risks are understood, assessed, and adequately mitigated
4. Provide assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for security, EA Board, and Executive Directors
5. Partner with Defra group Security to ensure security strategies, policies, and processes are in place
6. Lead initiatives to improve our security culture, including training, communication, and engagement
7. Run governance meetings to oversee security decisions
8. Maintain networks with security professionals to stay updated with the latest developments

The team
You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security group, focused on protecting and empowering the organisation. You will have access to professional security advice within Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency.
Experience/skills Required
The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, you should have:
* An understanding of broader influences on organisational security to facilitate continuous improvement
* Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, promote partnerships, influence, and inspire
* Ability to build effective partnerships with Defra and Environment Agency colleagues to jointly manage risks
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities and demands
* Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, communications, engagement, and implementing business change is beneficial

This is a hybrid role: office-based at your nearest location in England with flexible home working. Some national travel may be required.
