We require a Service Engineer to join our Engineering team, to build, repair and install cable harnesses, predominantly based in Telford, with some UK travel.
You'll deliver a safe, proactive, flexible and comprehensive technical service to ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability for our clients' cable harness systems. Your role will involve hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and adherence to strict safety and quality protocols.
This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge military and rail applications, contributing to critical infrastructure while developing your technical expertise and customer relationship skills.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Manufacture, rework, or repair cable harnesses on customer equipment using approved procedures, customer or internal drawings/procedures and IPC standards.
2. Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and customers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
3. Adhere to company Health & Safety procedures, site safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and conduct risk assessments and method statements.
4. Liaise with customers prior to job execution to confirm requirements and ensure all necessary safety controls are implemented.
5. Comply with industry codes of practice and the company’s Quality Management System.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Core Requirements:
6. Hands-on experience with cable harness assemblies, including building, repairing, and installing.
7. Self-motivated with a keen eye for detail, problem solver and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
8. Independently manage customer requests, coordinating with clients and internal teams to determine and execute next steps.
9. Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams, including sales, calibration laboratory, and engineering departments.
10. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including occasional weekends.
The following would enhance your application but are not essential:
11. Familiarity with military defence vehicle systems or rail trackside applications.
12. Experience working to IPC standards for cable harness assembly and repair.
Additional Information:
13. Location: Primarily based in Telford, with some travel across the UK.
14. Contract type: 12 months, Fixed Term Contract.
15. Travel: Regular travel with overnight stays and occasional weekend work required.
