About the role:
1. Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the service, ensuring compliance with statutory safeguarding responsibilities
2. Provide expert safeguarding advice and guidance to staff and partners
3. Lead on safeguarding case management, including oversight of referrals, risk assessments, and safety planning
4. Attend and contribute to child protection conferences, core groups, and strategy meetings
5. Deliver safeguarding training and reflective supervision to staff
6. Promote a culture of safeguarding awareness and best practice across the service
7. Liaise with local safeguarding partnerships, including Children’s Services, Police, and Health
8. Maintain accurate and timely records in line with information governance standards
9. Support continuous improvement in safeguarding practice through audit, learning reviews, and policy development
10. Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion in all safeguarding work
About you:
11. Social Work qualified or substantial experience in safeguarding children and/or adults, ideally in a leadership or advisory role
12. Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, guidance, and best practice
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and support others
14. Confident in multi-agency working and representing the organisation at external meetings
15. Skilled in risk assessment, safety planning, and case management
16. Committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion
17. Proficient in IT systems and record-keeping
18. Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families
19. Able to manage change successfully while prioritising the needs of service users
20. Willing to seek out learning opportunities and support the development of others
