Part-time role supporting livestock, teaching, and research operations across two farms in a hands-on, varied, and rewarding farm assistant position.

Mō te tūka | The role

Assist in supporting teaching, research, and commercial operations across two unique farm environments while developing your on-farm skills and experience.

Work at Lincoln University's irrigated Research Farm and the dryland Ashley Dene property, supporting general farm duties, animal care, teaching, and research programs. You will assist the Farm Manager, researchers, and students in a varied and rewarding hands-on role.

Some tasks of the role include:

* Assist with feeding, stock movement, and lambing activities
* Support livestock handling and logistics for teaching and research
* Perform fencing, irrigation, and general farm maintenance
* Record animal health and operational data accurately
* Operate farm machinery and vehicles safely
* Apply fertiliser, assist with weed control, pasture, and crop establishment

This is a permanent part-time role, working 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE), Monday to Friday, at our Springston-based farm and Lincoln University campus at Johnstone Memorial Laboratory. Salary: approximately $36,000 per annum pro-rata, depending on experience (full-time equivalent $60,000 per annum).

* Experience working on a sheep and beef farm with machinery use

* Willingness to act as 2IC in the Farm Manager's absence and flexibility to work extra hours during peak periods (September to March)
