Job Description
Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! Drive the cutting‑edge design and development of Electrical Systems for the revolutionary SMR nuclear power plant. You will play a key role in delivering a fully verified, world‑class power station, collaborating with top engineering teams and applying a structured systems engineering approach.
Responsibilities
* Define & manage high‑level electrical requirements, ensuring they are testable and align with project needs. Capture constraints, interfaces, and quality attributes using structured processes (e.g., IBM DOORS).
* Design, analyze, and verify electrical system/component designs that meet specifications. Conduct functional analysis, modeling, and simulation to validate performance. Define and execute verification activities in collaboration with the Verification team.
* Ensure compliance and quality throughout the SMR project lifecycle. Conduct technical reviews and provide key inputs to project technical review gates, ensuring designs meet regulatory and safety standards.
* Support strategy and risk management. Participate in capacity planning, identify potential risks, implement mitigation strategies, and support decision‑making to enhance project success.
* Develop and share knowledge. Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and best practices. Develop training materials and tools to support knowledge sharing across teams.
* Collaborate and represent. Work closely with internal engineering teams to drive standardization and a commoditized approach to system and component development. Represent the electrical engineering function in meetings, working groups, and external engagements with regulators, customers, and suppliers.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in building electrical services design.
* Expertise in space management, cable routing, and cable management.
* Strong team player who can work independently under tight deadlines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Degree in a relevant discipline.
Additional Requirements
* BPSS and SC security clearance required.
* Ability to travel to Assystem offices and customer sites within the UK.
* Previous experience in electrical power generation or the nuclear sector is an advantage.
* Applicants must meet residency criteria to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already cleared to a minimum SC level.
