Overview

Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd UK is seeking a Project Control Manager to work on projects based in Inverness, Scotland, on a permanent, staff basis. The Project Control Manager will lead cost, planning, scheduling and risk assessment support to assignments/project teams and clients across the project. They will oversee the setup and running of all required project controls systems, tools and interfaces to enable successful management and reporting of project costs, schedules and risks. They will manage a team of project control resources in support of project delivery excellence.

Responsibilities

* Act as the focal point with the client and contractor Project Controllers to ensure costs and progress are reported accurately and align with project reporting requirements.
* Monitor overall project progress, milestones, and forecast performance against plan.
* Identify and report on the project critical path with early warning of potential slippages.
* Establish communications interfaces for cost, planning, scheduling and risk deliverables.
* Report project status and KPIs to management.
* Develop and manage the project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
* Implement cost and planning control structures aligned with the WBS.
* Oversee the project work approval process for cost code allocation, budgets and approvals.
* Forecast budgets and assess the impact of change requests on budgets and schedules.
* Ensure accuracy of S-curves and histograms; maintain resourced, logically linked Gantt charts.
* Provide analysis of current and future resource needs to the Project Manager.
* Oversee recovery from slippages or float erosion.
* Develop and issue project change orders/variations per contract.
* Promote and ensure adherence to the project change management system.
* Chair internal and client Project Controls meetings (Cost, Schedule and Progress).
* Prepare proposal schedules and CTR packs.
* Lead cost and schedule risk analysis workshops with internal teams and clients.
* Manage project-level risk in line with local standards and processes.
* Ensure project controls processes and tools are up to date and adhered to.
* Manage delivery to meet quality, time and budget specifications.
* Ensure all cost, planning and risk deliverables are accurate and timely before issue to stakeholders.
* Ensure project control tools and systems are set up and functioning.
* Manage workload, performance and development of the project controls team with coaching and feedback.
* Ensure project control staff are competent to perform assigned work.
* Review contractual obligations and ensure cost control aligns with agreements and client requirements.
* Capture and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement.
* Motivate the project control team to meet project aims and promote teamwork.


Qualifications

* Typically requires ISCED level 6 (Bachelor’s) degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent via vocational training and/or industry experience).


Knowledge, Skills And Experience

* Typically requires a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant project control experience, including supervision/management of others.
* Significant experience managing contracts, budgeting, cost control, planning, scheduling and change management.
* Knowledgeable across engineering, procurement and construction execution.
* Familiarity with Project Controls tools and systems.
* Strong business insight aligned with Wood’s strategic goals.
* Global mindset and network-building ability.
* Analytical, conceptual and adaptive thinking; ability to handle complex information.
* Collaborative, with mentoring and leadership capabilities.
