As a Java Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology Wholesale Credit Risk Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications. We primarily use Java as our main language, using libraries such as Spring Boot and deploying to Kubernetes-based platforms on both private and public cloud. We have a heavy focus on ensuring that our deployments, via a build server, are both efficient and well-controlled.
Job responsibilities
1. Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to multiple teams to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
2. Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others, driving the continuous improvement of system stability and efficiency
3. Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
4. Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
5. Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
6. Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
7. Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
8. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and proficient advanced experience.
9. Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
10. Solid development experience in Java, or similar languages
11. Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge developing and maintaining code in a large corporate environment
12. Ability to lead design and functionality problems independently
13. Practical cloud native experience
14. Practical experience with multiple data management technologies such as Oracle, Elasticsearch, Kafka
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
15. Experience with project management tools such as Maven or similar
16. Experience with React-based UIs
17. Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
