Senior Power Supply Design Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Power Supply Design Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team, taking ownership of complex power conversion designs across a broad range of applications — from portable electronics to high-power industrial systems.
Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end design of DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters and inverters, from concept through to product realisation
* Analyse system requirements to develop efficient, cost-effective solutions meeting relevant industry standards
* Use simulation tools (SPICE, PLECS, or equivalent) to model and validate power supply circuits; build and iterate on prototypes
* Select appropriate components — semiconductors, magnetics, and passives — balancing efficiency, cost, and availability in collaboration with procurement
* Conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure compliance with safety standards, EMC/EMI regulations, and applicable specifications
* Investigate and resolve power supply performance issues using structured failure analysis and root cause methodologies
* Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to integrate power supply designs into wider system architectures
* Produce thorough design documentation including schematics, layout guidelines, and design specifications
* Monitor developments in power electronics and identify opportunities to improve existing designs and introduce new approaches
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (BEng/MEng/MSc); PhD advantageous
* 5–8+ years of hands-on power supply design experience, with a focus on DC-DC, AC-DC, and DC-AC topologies
* Strong grounding in power electronics fundamentals — semiconductors, magnetics, and control techniques
* Proficiency with simulation tools (SPICE, PLECS) and PCB design software (Altium, Cadence, or similar)
* Familiarity with relevant standards: IEEE, IEC, UL
* Competent with lab equipment for testing and validation
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a track record of delivering successful designs
* Effective communicator, comfortable working across cross-functional teams
